Wholesaling Houses and American Idol???

Admit it! Yes you…thats right..lol….You are a fan of american idol and you are going to be watching it with bated breath on Wednesday with your popcorn and your soda. OK I admit it too…I have been watching it all season with my wife. It is like a tuesday and wednesday night ritual.

Alright enough of that! What does American Idol have to do with wholesaling houses? I have been watching the TV guide channel yesterday and they have a whole bunch of special close ups on people involved with American Idol. One of them yesterday happened to be Kara Dioguardi. This new judge added to the the previous three of Simon Cowell, Paula Abdul, and Randy Jackson had a very interesting interview.

There was one thing that she said in particular that made me think and actually reminded me of myself. She said that she is the type of girl to “dive into a pool before it is filled with water.”  In other words, READY, FIRE, AIM…. While this might seem  like a very reckless attitude, it is actually very characteristic of successful people.

Weather it be learning to wholesale houses or some other business venture, the fact is that if you sit back and analyze it too much you will never get going. It is called the paralysis of analysis…Don’t get me wrong; I don’t think you should throw money or time at something without any thought. Take a sensible look at whatever it is you want to do and weight the facts. You can tell very quickly if you have a worthwhile idea.

For instance, lets take wholesaling real estate. You have read this blog and seen some of my checks and success stories. By the way I have another closing today. I should be able to post the check this week for you. It should be 12K I believe 🙂 If this is something you want to do, you know it works and you have seen it works. So I ask you, “Why is it not working for you?”

More often than not the answer is because you have not done a single thing to put it into motion. Go ahead and send out the mailers, put out the bandit signs and just get your phone ringing. The only way for you to learn is to start talking to motivated sellers. You will say stupid things and you might even get yelled at by a crazy seller. You know what? I have! But it is all a part of putting in your dues to becoming a successful real estate investor.

You don’t have to get it right you just gotta get it going

Alrighty on a different note….who do you think is going to be the next American Idol?

    Thanks for the information you are sharing regarding your business.

    I reside in Canada and looking to get into wholesaling homes as soon as possible. I think your methods are insightful and quite interesting. I noticed that the programs you use (direct mail through USPS, realquest, easyvirtualassistant,etc) appear to be focussed more for the US. I was wondering if you have any ideas as to how I can find data/downloads for seller leads, etc..and maybe how to apply the virtualassistant to the canadian market…

    Any insights you give will be greatly appreciated.

    Hey Kingsley thanks for the comment. I know for a fact that you can get a virtual assistant in the US no problem by using http://www.odesk.com. That is who I use for my virtual assistants and have paid as little as 2 bucks an hour. As far as finding canadian data sources for leads I guess I would have to look into that. I am pretty sure you can go to your county and get a list from them. It takes a little more leg work but can definitely be done.
